Mania is a modular typeface, designed using a system and inspired by the Ken Kesey novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. Each letter that follows the system represents how the patients follow the rules and regulations of nurse Ratched. The letters that have the subtle hint  of breaking from the system represent how McMurphy tries to do the same within the mental institute.
